چکیده

The identification of an unknown quantum gate is a significant issue in quantum technology. In this paper, we propose a quantum gate identification method within the framework of quantum process tomography. In this method, a series of pure states are inputted to the gate and then a fast state tomography on the output states is performed and the data are used to reconstruct the quantum gate. Our algorithm has computational complexity O(d) with the system dimension d. The algorithm is compared with maximum likelihood estimation method for the running time, which shows the efficiency advantage of our method. An error upper bound is established for the identification algorithm and the robustness of the algorithm against the purity of input states is also tested. We perform quantum optical experiment on single-qubit Hadamard gate to verify the effectiveness of the identification algorithm.

Maximal success probabilities of linear-optical quantum gates

Numerical optimization is used to design linear-optical devices that implement a desired quantum gate with perfect fidelity, while maximizing the success rate. For the two-qubit controlled-sign or controlled NOT CNOT gate, we provide numerical evidence that the maximum success rate is S=2 /27 using two unentangled ancilla resources; interestingly, additional ancilla resources do not increase th...

Fidelity of a Rydberg-blockade quantum gate from simulated quantum process tomography

We present a detailed error analysis of a Rydberg blockade mediated controlled-NOT quantum gate between two neutral atoms as demonstrated recently in Isenhower et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 104, 010503 (2010)] and Zhang et al. [ Phys. Rev. A 82, 030306 (2010)]. Numerical solutions of a master equation for the gate dynamics, including all known sources of technical error, are shown to be in good agre...

Analysis of a controlled phase gate using circular Rydberg states

We propose and analyze the implementation of a two-qubit quantum gate using circular Rydberg states with maximum orbital angular momentum. The intrinsic quantum gate error is limited by the finite Rydberg lifetime and finite Rydberg blockade shift. Circular states have much longer radiative lifetimes than low orbital angular momentum states and are therefore candidates for high-fidelity gate op...

Self-Consistent Analysis of Barrier Characterization Effects on Quantum Well Laser Internal Performance

In this paper, a numerical study of barrier characterization effects on the high-temperature internal performance of an InGaAsP multi-quantum well laser is presented. The softwareused for this purpose self-consistently combines the three-dimensional simulation of carrier transports, self-heating, and optical waveguiding. The laser model calculates all relevant physical mechanisms, including the...
